Choose You is the American Cancer Society’s national movement that encourages women to put their health first and be healthy role models for those around them. Choose You will shine a light on a hidden issue – that one in three American women, 34 million in total, will get cancer in her lifetime. Plus, about 60% of all cancer deaths could be prevented if people avoided tobacco products, maintained a healthy weight through diet and regular exercise, and got recommended cancer screening tests.
The American Cancer Society is challenging companies nationwide to put health first by rallying employees around Choose You Day: Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Choose You Day celebrates employees putting themselves and their health first, and helps raise awareness of the steps both men and women can take to stay well by: eating right, being active, quitting or avoiding smoking, and getting regular health checks. On Choose You Day, employers nationwide will promote a call-to-action for all employees to take 30 minutes out of their workday to focus on personal health goals. On May 12, 2010, women and men are encouraged to participate in Choose You Day to help themselves stay well and as a sign of support for the special women in their lives.
