The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® National Team Program gives your company an opportunity to provide hope for people facing breast cancer – and save lives – through the Society’s premier event to raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer.

What is Making Strides Against Breast Cancer National Team Program?

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer National Team Program provides your company the chance to engage employees, their families, and friends to join the fight against breast cancer by celebrating breast cancer survivors, raising awareness about early detection and prevention, and giving back to end the disease. The program provides your company with a meaningful opportunity for corporate volunteerism and philanthropy, while uniting your brand with communities across the country in support of one of America’s most popular and unifying causes.

How does it work?

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer National Team Program is the perfect way for companies with large regional or national networks to join together with a shared passion to help the American Cancer Society save lives. To participate in the program, your company must:

  • Recruit teams in three or more states across the country (a minimum of 1,000 online registered walkers is required)
  • Identify two contacts within each organization – one to coordinate teams and the other to encourage fundraising and internal promotion
  • Promote team program membership on your organization’s Web site or intranet and provide ongoing communication about the event as well as cancer information
  • Encourage participation in major office locations, and track progress, and report year-end results

To support your efforts, the American Cancer Society will provide:

  • A national team Web page to sign up and track walkers
  • Registration process training
  • Networking calls with national team volunteers and motivational speakers, as requested
  • Best practices and fundraising ideas for team leaders (sent electronically)
  • Map of American Cancer Society Division offices and list of all Making Strides events (including basic event information)
  • Artwork for local media outlets that promotes your company’s national team status

There will also be national recognition in the Society’s breast cancer e-newsletter, the quarterly Impact newsletter, which goes to more than 700 corporate decision-makers, and on the Making Strides and Workplace Solutions Web sites.
